Hi there,

com.sun.* are not part of the public API, IIRC.

What exactly do you want to do with JPEGImageEncoder?

I have been running an application which saves PNGs:

ImageIO.write(destination, "PNG", new File(...));

And as far as I can tell, it works perfectly on Kubuntu with OpenJDK.
So try replacing "PNG" with "JPEG" if that's what you need.
