[OpenJDK 2D-Dev] RFC: Fix for JDK-8188030

Hi Phil,

I realise this is quite an old thread, but do you think I can request
the proposed patch [1] for backport to 8?

We've been shipping it in our RPMs for some time but I think it would
be much nicer to have this upstreamed for all to consume.
