I've done bootstrap build on RPi3 twice with the old version of the 
patch and twice with the updated one. Old version crashed on the same 
point both times, updated version succeeded. So I think the update fixes 
that problem.

Problem had affected RPi3 only - on other 4 boards bootstrapping worked 
fine from the start.
