To reproduce this in the mauve test suite with the slowdebug builtin sim
vsn do

<...>linux-aarch64-normal-client-slowdebug/images/j2sdk-image/bin/java -Xcomp RunnerProcess

and then on stdin enter

gnu.testlet.Label.PaintTest

A short time later you should get the assertion failure.
