Hi all,
Like every month we had our hackday kindly organised by @Hackthetower,
@Salesforce and @Heroku (thanks jr0cket), see
http://www.meetup.com/Londonjavacommunity/events/198900362/.
Developers of various levels assembled, copied VMs, learnt and built
OpenJDK 8 and 9 in the respective VMs. Some took home copies of the VM to
build it on their desktops. Ran tests and found most of them passed, the
failing ones were environment related.
One of the participants even built it on the cloud in record time, built
both OpenJDK8 and OpenJDK9. He found an issue when building it from scratch
and also recommended a solution (regarding freetypefont on Ubuntu 14.04).
The Getting Started Kits (http://bit.ly/17ovGUB and http://bit.ly/1ckphOl) have
gotten smarter with some more knowledge about *Project Jigsaw* and *Project
Penrose* - thanks to our supporters from JUG BG.
All-in-all a productive day and many happy developers leaving with know-how
about OpenJDK.
Cheers,
Mani
