It's much easier to become an Author on a given Project (two sponsored
contributions [0], maybe a month of work), than a Member of any Group
[1] (regular activity for a year). So I don't think that would be very
useful in practice.
In addition, Project specific tasks like triage require expertise in the
specific Project. For example, I would not consider myself particularly
well equipped to pick out the low hanging fruit for, say, the Aarch64
Port, as that's not something I work on.
So rather than going through JBS to find things for someone to do, I
think it would be more useful to find out which Projects already have
such tasks, and then to collect a set of links on our wiki to them.
That way, we'd direct people wanting to do something to Projects that
have something specific for them to do, rather than hoping that our pick
of a low hanging fruit at a given time aligns with a specific Project's
schedule, reviewer interest, availability and priorities at the later
time when a developer actually shows up.
That's something individual Projects are better equipped to judge than
the Adoption Group.
