Subject: [jc-user] BSD Availability of SceneBuilder
To: users at java-champions.java.net
Champions,
We're about to move to a source code focused model for the Oracle BSD
licensed JavaFX Scene Builder visual layout tool for JavaFX Applications
starting with JDK 8u40. In fact, the source code supporting the new
controls coming in the JavaFX update in 8u40 are already there in the Scene
Builder code base.
In short, rather than providing our own separate builds of the Scene
Builder visual layout tool, we'll leave that to downstream projects and
users.
I'm not sure how/if this would affect you, but considering that all the
code is there in OpenJDK, I hope you'd have no trouble producing your own
builds, if you need or chose to.
The Scene Builder source code is provided and developed through the OpenJFX
Project in the OpenJDK Community. Please consult the OpenJFX Wiki for
instructions[0] describing how to download and build its source code.
Please note that the source code for this application can be found in the
"apps/scenebuilder" directory.
If you would like to contribute changes, ideas or just let us know what you
have done with the code, please consult the OpenJDK Community contribution
guidelines [1] and join the openjfx-dev [2] mailing list.
