How to contribute to the Adopt OpenJDK and OpenJDK ?

I read the contribution procedure.

Are these basically the avenues ?

1. One could individually participate in JCP spec. activities without
guidance depending on one's skill level.
2. Participate along with the local JUG.
3. Contribute to one of the OpenJDK projects like JITWatch etc.
4. Contribute to documentation.
