Not sure if that belongs here, but what you are describing sounds a lot 
like JShell Scripts to me. I haven't used JSehll that much, so I may be 
wrong. Maybe it makes sense to experiment with JShell for these very 
early stages? JShell has also other benefits. For example it can log 
which statement is currently executed, making it easier to see what the 
program is doing.
