I wasn't necessarily yet talking about translation strategy - as much I 
was trying to understand what a user could do to "bullet proof" its 
switches. It seems to me that there's a way to name almost all the 
components of a remainder, except for the "unknown" ones (which come 
from sealed hiearchies).

I'm not (yet) concerned with bytecode considerations :-)
