From sean.coffey at oracle.com Wed Dec 4 09:34:30 2013 From: sean.coffey at oracle.com (=?ISO-8859-1?Q?Se=E1n_Coffey?=) Date: Wed, 04 Dec 2013 17:34:30 +0000 Subject: CFV: New Project: JDK 8 Updates (jdk8u) Message-ID: <529F67A6.80007@oracle.com> I hereby propose the creation of the "JDK 8 Updates" Project with me as the Lead and the Build Group as the sponsoring Group. The goal of this Project will be to produce JDK 8 Updates on top of the JDK 8 Project [1]. I've been involved as a maintainer in the JDK 7u Project [2] since May 2012 and have gained a good grasp of all aspects to managing a JDK Updates Project. I work as an engineer in the Oracle Java SE Sustaining team where JDK updates are a core piece of infrastructure for delivering bug fixes to end users. The Project will follow a similar process to that of the JDK 7u Project. The Project's repositories will initially be open for bug fixes and small enhancements only. Features and major changes for the release will be proposed and tracked via the existing JEP Process [3]. The initial Authors/Committers/Reviewers will be anyone who holds a role in the JDK 8, JDK 7u, HSX, or Nashorn Projects and has contributed at least one changeset. The most senior role across those Projects will be granted in this Project. Votes are due by 23:59 UTC on Wednesday, 18th December 2013. Only current OpenJDK Members [4] are eligible to vote on this motion. Votes must be cast in the open on the discuss list. Replying to this message is sufficient if your mail program honors the Reply-To header. For Lazy Consensus voting instructions, see [5]. Regards, Sean.
