From iris.clark at oracle.com Mon Oct 9 14:13:40 2023 From: iris.clark at oracle.com (Iris Clark) Date: Mon, 9 Oct 2023 14:13:40 +0000 Subject: 2FA required for write access to github.com/openjdk/* beginning 2023/11/01 at 15:00 UTC Message-ID: Hi! In March 2023, GitHub confirmed their commitment to require all users who contribute code on GitHub.com to enable two-factor authentication (2FA) by the end of 2023 [0]. In anticipation of this change, write access to all repositories under github.com/openjdk will require 2FA beginning at 15:00 UTC Wednesday 2023/11/01 (Wed 1 Nov 8:00AM PDT) [1]. The majority of OpenJDK's Authors, Committers and Reviewers [2] have already enabled 2FA as strongly recommended in the Skara documentation [3] so they will see no changes; however, there are a few who are not using 2FA yet. If you are an Author, Committer, or Reviewer who has not configured your GitHub account for 2FA prior to 1 Nov, you will lose write access to github.com/openjdk repositories. You will continue to be able to fork a repository to your personal account and create a local copy via clone. Write access will be reinstated once you configure 2FA for your GitHub account. See this GitHub Docs page for instructions to determine if your account uses 2FA or to configure it following GitHub's latest recommendations: https://docs.github.com/en/authentication/securing-your-account-with-two-factor-authentication-2fa/configuring-two-factor-authentication Thanks, Iris [0] https://github.blog/2023-03-09-raising-the-bar-for-software-security-github-2fa-begins-march-13/ [1] https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20231101T08&p1=1240&ah=2 [2] https://openjdk.org/census [3] https://wiki.openjdk.org/display/SKARA#Skara-Creatinganaccount From paul.sandoz at oracle.com Thu Oct 12 00:02:37 2023 From: paul.sandoz at oracle.com (Paul Sandoz) Date: Thu, 12 Oct 2023 00:02:37 +0000 Subject: CFV: New Project: Babylon Message-ID: <35CCD195-1C1C-4474-A5EE-96911118EE76@oracle.com> I hereby propose the creation of a new Project, Babylon, with me as the Lead and the Compiler and Core Libraries Groups as sponsors. Babylon's primary goal will be to extend the reach of Java to foreign programming models such as SQL, differentiable programming, machine learning models, and GPUs. Babylon will achieve this with an enhancement to reflective programming in Java, called code reflection. For further details, please see the call for discussion [1]. I propose that the initial Reviewers of this Project include Mourad Abbay, Maurizio Cimadamore, Gary Frost, Ian Graves, Adam Sotona, and Sandhya Viswanathan. Votes are due by 23:59 UTC on Thursday, 26 Oct 2023. Only current OpenJDK Members [2] are eligible to vote on this motion. Votes must be cast in the open on the discuss list. A quick reminder that we're one week away from requiring 2FA for write access to all repositories under github.com/openjdk. This change will take effect at 15:00 UTC Wed 2023/11/01 (Wed 1 Nov 8:00AM PT) [0].
