I finally realised this, hence the explanation :-)

I'm not sure I follow you.  They use the same bug database still, as
far as I'm aware.

Yes, the reason I pressed on the issue of the backport was because I
could foresee bug reports against the various distro packages (once it
gets built and shipped out) due to this change.
