Building Latest Repo On OS X - Taking a very long time!

Ben,
I am building the latest repo, but I made changes. I sent the patch to the
list with the subject of '_LP64, int32_t and intptr_t' since that is what
the issue is with the build. I am not sure if this breaks other platforms
and someone will have to test.
