A process question

Hi folks,

While I am working a fix to make the build pass on Mac OS, I notice that 
for some files, I could go head and just check it into the open jdk 7 
tree and let someone take care of the merge, but I am encountering one 
file that I need to change (os_bsd_x86.cpp) in order to make the 64 bit 
pass.

Would someone help me clarify how the put back process we are using 
here? How can I get the check in permission etc?
