This is complete, although the last couple of merge pushes have been
rejected as too large by the mailing list.

I've erred on the side of getting the repo exactly in sync with the
upstream.  We should be able to merge in changes that are relevant
from the initial-bsd-port branch as we work towards getting the port
working again.
