Build progressing...

After upgrading make from 3.80 to 3.81, my build of icedtea6-1.4.1 is
progressing. It runs for a number of hours, completes building in
openjdk-ecj and appears to start building within openjdk where it comes to a
halt with:

make[2]: Entering directory

will exit.

The difference is now JAVA_HOME is being specified. Obviously it can¹t find
the ant jar which is lurking in /usr/share/java. So what configuration piece
have I missed so that it knows where to look?
