I apolize for the long overdue reply.
Thanks for your problem report, and assistance in providing correct links!
I have now updated the build web page.
Regarding the jdk README file: Funny, I've never even noticed that it
existed. :-) I agree that it is not up to date. In fact, none of the
sub-repo README files seems fully up to date. I believe they should do
nothing more than to point to the top-level build README. I have created
https://bugs.openjdk.java.net/browse/JDK-8140394 to track this.
