jdk9 build failure in ubuntu16.10

Thanks David for the info. It seems jib.sh configure creates a release 
profile. How can I create a "fastdebug" level?
Configuration summary:
* Debug level:    release
* HS debug level: product
* JDK variant:    normal
* JVM variants:   server
