I think you can achieve this by running "WSLENV=$WSLENV:DEBUG_FIXPATH DEBUG_FIXPATH=1 make". I imagine you get in the habit real quickly of using WSLENV, because you will need it for all environment variables that should be passed between linux and Windows. And honestly, DEBUG_FIXPATH is something I've only used a handful of times. 

But if it's important to you, it can stay.
