WSL2 has been more problematic to get to work with the OpenJDK build than WSL1. Don't be fooled by the "version" numbers, WSL1 is a completely different product from WSL2, and in many respects it's superior. I recommend using WSL1 to build OpenJDK.

With that said, I do not know of any particular issue prohibiting building on WSL2 (more than the abysmal performance). Please send a mail to build-dev at openjdk.org with details with your problem, if you need assistance.
