From modernDayPablum at thefreelancer.net Fri Nov 27 01:05:55 2020 From: modernDayPablum at thefreelancer.net (modernDayPablum) Date: Fri, 27 Nov 2020 01:05:55 +0000 Subject: Alibaba Dragonwell JDK TCK/JCK Compliance In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <5FC050F3.2000808@thefreelancer.net> >From a recent internet discussion [1] I've been given reason to think that at least one of Alibaba's Dragonwell [2] JDKs (8 or 11) is not in compliance with the TCK/JCK. Please can anybody in the list offer answers to the following questions: 1. Is the OCTLA Signatories List [3] up-to-date? 2. Is the Alibaba Dragonwell JDK 8 TCK/JCK compliant? 3. Is the Alibaba Dragonwell JDK 11 TCK/JCK compliant? 4. Where can I read about any official governance on what claims OpenJDK vendors are allowed or expected to make about their TCK compliance? 5. What is the OpenJDK project lead's position on vendors representing that they are TCK compliant, if it is the case that the vendor is not actually TCK compliant? 6. What are the risks (if any) to end users developing and running software on an OpenJDK implementation that is not TCK compliant? 7. As an application developer implementing/deploying software built with an OpenJDK implementation, how can I know with 100% certainty that a vendor's claims of TCK/JCK compliance is true? 8. Is my assumption correct that Alibaba is a signatory to only OpenJDK Community TCK and EA TCK License Agreement V 2.0 [4] but is not currently a signatory to OpenJDK Community TCK and EA TCK License Agreement V 3.0? We don't know. I suspect the only people who do are Alibaba, to whom I suggest you direct your enquiries. -- Andrew Haley (he/him) Java Platform Lead Engineer Red Hat UK Ltd. https://keybase.io/andrewhaley EAC8 43EB D3EF DB98 CC77 2FAD A5CD 6035 332F A671 From modernDayPablum at thefreelancer.net Fri Nov 27 13:23:12 2020 From: modernDayPablum at thefreelancer.net (modernDayPablum) Date: Fri, 27 Nov 2020 13:23:12 +0000 Subject: Alibaba Dragonwell JDK TCK/JCK Compliance In-Reply-To: <57a5ea3c-7b37-5556-bff9-85403765fdf8@redhat.com> References: <5FC050F3.2000808@thefreelancer.net> <57a5ea3c-7b37-5556-bff9-85403765fdf8@redhat.com> Message-ID: <5FC0FDC0.9050502@thefreelancer.net> On 27/11/2020 12:15, Andrew Haley wrote: > On 11/27/20 1:05 AM, modernDayPablum wrote: >> From a recent internet discussion [1] I've been given reason to think >> that at least >> one of Alibaba's Dragonwell [2] JDKs (8 or 11) is not in compliance with >> the TCK/JCK. > > We don't know. In what I think of as being ideal open source communication, Alibaba would see my questions posted here and reply to the list. There are a few questions I asked that aren't necessarily specific to Alibaba, but instead are about TCK/JCK governance/conformance in general. Are you (or somebody else) able to answer any of my other questions? Just in a general context? TIA.
