If you are creating a CR please add a ref to 7166955 for the record.

one other nit in the spec, it is somewhat confusing the description of
bufLen. The  "Description"  is correct, explicitly it says the number of 
entries,
however the parameter description says:

bufLen: the length of the buffer

I think this should be explicit as well, and also suggest renaming 
bufLen to
nvmBuf or something along these lines.
