JDK-8272194 java.sql.Date::toLocalDate() broken for dates before 1 A.D

Hello all,

I am just reaching out to ask about the status of the issue JDK-8272194

I have been dealing with this issue for over a year now, and finally
decided to look into fixing it. I believe I have found the solution to it,
however I see the issue is already assigned to Lance Andersen (who is
hopefully reading this).

The solution I have arrived at seems naively simple however, so I imagine
there is more to the problem than I have considered. How far along have
other fixes for this gotten?

Also apologies if this is the wrong mailing list or way to reach out. I am
new to the OpenJDK community so I may be lacking in etiquette.

Any reply would be appreciated.
