RFR: JDK-8058510 - race condition in UART write

Hi Riaz,

Unfortunately, this issue did not show up with standard tests. I was 
only able to reproduce it as part of a demo I was working. It seems to 
be somewhat dependent on the device connected so not very suitable for a 
regression test.
