I disagree that the simple documentation bugs aren't also real bugs.
The bug database is a valuable resource to the project.
It is true that certain areas of the bug database languish,
but this is often because a maintainer has left or is not
motivated to work on the bug database. But who knows?
A future maintainer might actually enjoy bug-fixing (as I do).
The best way to reduce the number of "trivial bugs" is to fix them.
And the best way to encourage bug-fixing is making it easy (and fun!).
