This is a reminder that the call for paper for Fosdem 2013 Free Java Dev Room has been started: http://wiki.debian.org/Java/DevJam/2013/Fosdem/CallForParticipation Since this year marks the 10th year of Free Java, I hope to see a large participation from the OpenJDK Community. Waiting forward to see your papers submitted! I mean... is there a benchmarking suite for J2SE apps running on any given JVM and hardware combo, so that one gets an index of combined performance (file I/O, raw cpu speed, networking, etc) atop any given JVMs, and be able to do comparisons? So far I?ve found: http://sourceforge.net/projects/benchmark4j/ http://sourceforge.net/projects/opt/ http://www.okayan.jp/DhrystoneApplet/ and https://github.com/mslinn/ExecutorBenchmark (special for multithreading testing according to http://www.infoq.com/articles/benchmarking-jvm ) But I wonder if there are more established tools that I?m missing... I rember that in the Java 1.x days many articles that benchmarked JVMs used SpecJVM98 I guess the alternative nowadays would be to use http://www.spec.org/jvm2008/ Am I missing anything?. TIA for any suggestions...
