I agree that Windows is still extremely important to Java and the JDK.
It's way too big of a platform to ignore and clearly OpenJDK supports
Windows (although it is difficult to build). IMHO, many Windows shops are
not very strict about requiring true "open source" as long as there is a
free enterprise-class alternative available. There will be a pickup in
demand for Windows OpenJDK 6 binaries when/if Oracle stops freely
distributing new updates to their JDK6 proprietary version.
