This work will be done under contract with the American Printing House for the Blind (APH), which is collaborating on the project. Knowledge of Braille is desirable but not required, since it can be learned. BrailleBlaster is an open source project which aims to dramatically increase the availability of Braille and tactile graphics. It covers both literary and technical material. It is freely downloadable. Please send questions and resumes to john.boyer at abilitiessoft.com -- John J. Whilst we've been running the sessions, we've met a lot of people who are interested in making the build and test of OpenJDK easier. It seems that there's a lot of desire to improve things, and a lot of knowledge and useful software held by various parties which they may be interested in sharing. For example, at the LJC we have some scripts used to build simple VMs for teaching purposes, and we have heard that others have complimentary software which could be contributed. So, this post is to call attention to this area, put out a public call for interest (and ask potential participants to speak up), and see if there is critical mass - and what suitable next steps should be. In particular - if people are interested & at JavaOne, please let me know - let's try to organise & meet up whilst a large number of people are physically in the same space. I'm definitely interested and I'm at J1. I'd like to see what we can do to get some common build setup documents published and to explore more about how developers who want to contribute can be sure their changes are "good" - where good means some level of build and test confidence across multiple platforms. Everyone wants to do a good job when contributing but currently the barrier can be high and generally stacked against them. Lets get together if we can - its a great topic to discuss face to face. I'm sure we can help reduce the barriers! I'm not at JavaOne so won't be able to meet but I'll be happy to get some feedbacks. There is many interesting subjects to be covered on building OpenJDK on various platform, especially in a CI approach. For those interested, build scriptsfor openjdk-osx-build project (OSX), available here () will soon be merged into OBuildfactoryproject (Linux for now) github repo . Hope you could discuss about OSX support in new build infra and merge of latest build infra scripts into jdk8, lambda, jigsaw and see how to make mlvm build follow jdk8/lambda/jigsaw way. Subject: Re: Followup from yesterday's Build & Test meeting Von: Cecilia Borg Datum: 11.10.2012 20:23 An: Ben Evans Kopie (CC): Martijn Verburg, Richard Warburton, James Gough, John Yeary, Alex Buckley, Jonathan Gibbons, Donald Smith, Milton Smith, Dalibor Topic, Mikael Vidstedt, Tim Ellison, Sebastian Sickelmann, Steve Poole, Andrew Haley, Mario Torre, rkennke, Stephen Colebourne, naaman, Volker Simonis Looping in Sebastian Sickelmann. We did meet and this is the thread for the follow-up. The meeting was a good kick off to get some faces to names and state a common goal. As I said on the meeting, for those of you who didn't attend my BOF, please review the slides in the excerpt I've attached and listen to the BOF recording (make sure to click the link under "Media"). Slides explained in the recording at 5:40 and 7:15 are the most important, although you get some good context in the rest of the session as well. Share with people close to you and let me know if there is something that doesn't makes sense, it's just to make sure we're aiming at the same thing. Regarding Ben's questions 1) I will come to Devoxx, Wed mid day 2) I propose we discuss infrastructure (both building and testing) in the group "Build" and then discuss testing in the group "Quality" since it requires slightly different compentence. Looking forward working with you all, think we have a good ground for discussions regarding the basic requirements of this! I'm excited to share this news. Please spread the news. Thanks Nagappan The ATOMac team is proud to announce a new release of ATOMac. About ATOMac: Short for Automated Testing on Mac, ATOMac is the first Python library to fully enable GUI testing of Macintosh applications via the Apple Accessibility API. Existing tools such as using appscript to send messages to accessibility objects are painful to write and slow to use. ATOMac has direct access to the API. It's fast and easy to use to write GUI tests. Changes in this release: * LDTP compatibility added. LDTP allows testers to write a single script that will automate test cases on Linux, Windows, and now Mac OS X. Information and documentation on LDTP can be found at the LDTP home page[0]. * Detailed documentation - Sphinx has been configured to generate documentation for ATOMac. When this documentation is uploaded, it will be linked from the home page[1]. * Various fixes to reading and writing certain accessibility attributes. * Sending function keys and newlines now works as intended. A detailed changelog is available[2]. Download source: https://github.com/pyatom/pyatom Documentation references: Sphinx documentation is being uploaded. In the meantime, please see the readme at the bottom of the github page listed above. Thanks again to Henri for his hard work over the last couple of years and donating the scripts to be used by others!
