As usual, I would suggest checking out some of the newer, smaller
OpenJDK Projects first, as they tend to be the easier to make a mark in
than larger ones. See

for a longer explanation of how to start contributing successfully,
rather than just jumping into the wild river and hoping for the best ;)
For example, the Code Tools Project has a nice pool of smaller, distinct
tools one can start contributing to without having to become an expert
on JDK development right away.
