We can support most of the Java interoperability features of Nashorn with V8, including class filtering. Where we are more confined is with extensions of the language itself, of which Nashorn has a few [1]. However, most of those have been addressed in recent additions to the ECMA standard (and V8), so it’s not really something to worry about.

Regarding Nashorn: I think it still serves a purpose and isn’t going away anytime soon. We’ll see how things work out in the future, but I’m not the right person to speculate about that.
