You are doing a lot more work on OpenJDK than I am at the moment, so
it wouldn't feel proper to object to something that makes your life
easier as opposed to being conservative, however there are indeed
issues that the JEP needs to address and the current text doesn't, for
example we already know that there's a viable alternative in using
clonebundles as Alexey mentioned multiple times, however the JEP
doesn't acknowledge this, let alone presenting facts regarding the
benefit of git over mercurial related to tooling support, and from
what I see tooling support and size of the download are the two only
reason to use git (I don't buy the one about hosting, that one doesn't
seem to make much sense for me).
