Hello,

have anyone contacted the Mercurial developers and tried to solved the 
issues in terms of the current VCS first? Have anyone submited any bugs 
to them?

Regardless whether OpenJDK will change the VCS or not, they should know 
about the issues – if there is anything wrong with Mercurial, they shoul 
have it reported in their Bugzilla and should have a chance to face such 
issues and improve their software. Just leaving the software that served 
you for many years without any word, is IMHO not a good habit.
