FreeType freetypecheck and Multiple Header Variables

Hi,

I have been trying to figure out how to get the freetypecheck to build
during the icedtea6/openjdk build have found that there seems to be two
different sets of variables set to indicate where the freetype library is.

ALT_FREETYPE_HEADERS_PATH | DEVTOOLS_FT_DIR -> FREETYPE_HEADERS_PATH ->
FT_HEADERS
and
FREETYPE2_CFLAGS -> FREETYPE2_HEADERS -> FREETYPE_HEADERS

Why are there two 'sets' of freetype header variables?
