openjdk,icedtea - Xmx option mandatory

I'd like to know why does not work, too - so by now I'm not going to
resize the swap (it would be easier to reinstall the SUN jvm :)

In your opinion could be related to a change in the default Xmx value?
What were the reasons for such a change, if I can ask?
