Couldn't agree more; I've been among those arguing for providing a tarball
on the discuss list.

Ah,good that there is a way, but you have to be able to get there to begin
with. For someone attempting to build IcedTea to
start with, it's another thing you need to sort out. This probably explains
why my current build is still from b13. Every build just
seems to introduce more problems -- not on the IcedTea front, I should say,
but from upstream (e.g. the switch to using Ant). The people hacking on
IcedTea have done a great job of dealing with things so far and long may it
continue :)
