1.9 went into java-overlay yesterday afternoon (+0100 UTC).  Along with many
OpenJDK fixes, it also has a new version of CACAO:

$ java -version
java version "1.6.0_20"
IcedTea Runtime Environment (1.9) (Gentoo build 1.6.0_20-b20)
CACAO (build 1.1.0pre1, compiled mode)

Can you try with this and see if the problem persists?
