No, this makes no sense; I've already replied on this point here:

There is no good reason to create a non-sensical versioning system for IcedTea
itself.  The u2 versioning should be represented in the java version:

java version "1.7.0_02"

OpenJDK 8 is already supported by the IcedTea 3.0 series.
