Andrew:

Thanks for your comments. We are R&D specialists working for a variety of
clients. We are constantly trying to convince them to use Linux/OpenJDK and are
helping with the transition.

I understand that icedtea has to move on at some point. However - I also
believe that it is imperative to fix bugs and security problems in old(er)
versions of icedtea as long as a significant group of users rely on it and/or
has no way of upgrading.

In other words: I agree with you that icedtea 1.8 is old and people should move
on. Though FC13 has not (yet) reached EOL, there's still no upgrade available
for icedtea.

I can't make my clients re-compile a new version and they are for sure not
willing to pay us. Additionally, it breaks their updating and security guides.
The ask me: How come we can get a new Firefox, Chrome browser, even Flash
plugins but not the latest JAVA (=icedtea) modules? What about security fixes?

So - once again. I hear what you are saying. And I appreciate all your work.
But icedtea should support all Fedora versions until EOL has been reached.

Michaela
