[RFC][icedtea6] - RH712211 backport

Hi.

This bug is fixed by a simple backport of
http://hg.openjdk.java.net/jdk7/jdk7/jdk/rev/d353dcff4f14
The backport itself is just a null check. I tested it, and
it works.
