           Summary: No Sound in Runescape
           Product: IcedTea-Web
           Version: 1.0.1
          Platform: all
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P5
         Component: General
        AssignedTo: unassigned at icedtea.classpath.org
        ReportedBy: shiningarcanine at gmail.com

If you go to Runescape.com and click "Play Now", your browser will load a JOGL
Java-applet based game. If you are using Sun's nsplugin, then you should hear
sound. If you are using IcedTea, then you should not hear any sound.

I am told on the Runescape forums that the workaround for this is to use
PulseAudio instead of ALSA, but I have not confirmed that information. I would
link to the Runescape forum post where that was said, but unfortunately, the
Runescape forums have a tendency to redirect external hyperlinks.

I use Gentoo Linux and I have confirmed this issue on both 32-bit x86 and
64-bit amd64 systems. As far as I can tell from what I have read on the
Runescape forums, this issue affects all distributions; no one has been able to
get sound to work with the IcedTea-Web nsplugin and ALSA.

My specific systems are using gcj-jdk 4.4.5, IcedTea6 1.10.0, IcedTea-Web 1.0.1
and JOGL 1.1.1a.
