The applet on http://toolserver.org/~ayacop/EditorApplet.html
crashes with icedtea-6 and -7.2.2.1-r1 (Gentoo AMD). Chrome gives 

java version "1.7.0_04"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea7 2.2) (Gentoo build 1.7.0_04-b21)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.0-b21, mixed mode)
Unable to use Firefox's proxy settings. Using "DIRECT" as proxy type.
