Yes, it appears that the problem has been fixed.  I just reinstalled
icedtea-web and tried it and experienced no freeze.  I'm happy that I can again
use my computer free of closed source software :)  However, I'm a bit curious
as to what mysystemp experienced, as he appears to have a very similar set up
to mine and yet reported today that on his system the page was STILL not
working.
