That is odd that the environment variable did not enable the debugging output.
Without it, this issue is very difficult to pinpoint, as the exception you've
posted could arise for a number of reasons. It may be (somehow) bug 1465 again
as you've suggested, or it could have an entirely different cause and yet
produce the same stack trace, eg [1].

You can also try to enable the debugging output by running the itweb-settings
command. Choose "debugging" from the left pane and tick the "Enable logging"
box, then run Firefox from the terminal again.
