Sounds good to me - isn't this required for the standard Java applet 
test page [1] to work, even?

Anyway I remember coming across this before when searching for the cause 
of some JS regressions, and I remember ruling this out as the cause for 
any problems that I could identify. So it does seem safe to backport IMO 
as well.
