Thanks for the explanation. It's fine, I'm just wary of changes coming
in at some point in future as we're branching for release.

Speaking of which, it's going to be some time before we do a 2.7.0 release.
Does these changes want backporting to the 2.6 branch so they go out in
the January security update?
