Best Environment For Porting

Hi,

I have been trying to figure out what is the best way to start compiling
OpenJDK on BeOS/Haiku.  I had purchased R3 back in the day, but
unfortunately do not have any hardware that it will work on.  Is it possible
to obtain R5 (purchase/download) that will work on newer hardware?  I know
that Haiku will work via VMWare, but I am interested in using BeOS R5 for
the development on real hardware.
