> I think the implementation will work also on platforms with big-endian byte order. `TestMergeStores` succeeds with a few adaptations on ppc64. The draft ([reinrich at 49688b6](https://github.com/reinrich/jdk/commit/49688b6ff57f7a886c42ebefd8b93cab1b84d503)) needs more thorough testing though. @offamitkumar you might want to test it on s390x.
I tested current changes as well as did a tier1 test run with your patch, I don't see failure on s390x.
