JVM internals documentation?

I’m looking to start crawling through the JVM sources, and was just looking
for documentation to help keep the major parts (GC, JIT compiler,
Reflection, ClassLoaders, etc) straight. John Rose mentioned that there may
be some “internals” documentation/specs that describe some of the internal
data structures and such—are those available, and if not, is there a plan to
open-source them real-soon-now?
