I only built the zero port, not using the hotspot runtime. the compiler used was
current trunk (GCC-4.4), as found in the gcc-snapshot package on Ubuntu jaunty.

yes, sucessfully built on ix86 without precompiled headers. Note that the patch
in your email doesn't contain my fix.
